ONE of the most anticipated titles of 2011 is undoubtedly Batman: Arkham City, in which the Caped Crusader will return to bring justice to the streets of Gotham City. Switched On spoke to Dax Ginn, from Rocksteady Studios, to find out more about the game. What’s Arkham City all about? We’re taking the action out on to the streets of Gotham as Batman goes head-to-head with an incredible range of characters from the classic Batman rogues’ gallery. Gotham itself has always been riddled with crime, and this is the new mayor’s solution to that: wall off a huge district of the city and throw all of the inmates from Arkham Asylum and Blackgate prison in there.
Take a snap of this image using the Wimo app for iPhone or Android to see Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Howdoes that change the gameplay? The size and scale of this new game world has fundamentally changed every aspect of the design, so we’ve rethought navigation, combat, forensics, cinematics and storytelling. Everything is on the table and has been rethought from the ground up, so players are going to find an incredible new experience. Howwill players move about the city? Navigation is a massive component of the game, so running off rooftops and using Batman’s cape to glide down and build momentum, carve between buildings, the promise of free-form navigation within Gotham City is something I think a lot of people are going to love. Which villains are in the game? The Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Catwoman, Calendar Man, Szasz, Hugo Strange and Riddler are all present in Arkham City and we have more announcements to make.
