Western Digital, $719 westerndigital.com

★★ Digital storage has officially hit ridiculous levels thanks to Western Digital’s monster 6TB unit. At $719, it might seem expensive, but that’s just shy of $120 per terabyte. Other than huge storage, the WD box has Firewire 800/400, eSATA and USB 2.0. Sadly, there is no USB 3.0 port available. Other than providing storage for huge video files, it could be hard to justify such a huge storage device. Also, keeping all back-ups on one huge device could be risky. This hard drive can be cut in half and made into a RAID storage device, for greater protection, but with cloud storage device plentiful and cheap, this gadget is for serious content creators only.
