1 PANASONIC FH25
Panasonic, $299 panasonic.com.au
★★ There’s a lot to like about this freshly released compact shooter. It’s inexpensive for a 16-megapixel camera with an 8x optical zoom and it’s more lightweight than you should reasonably expect, making it an ideal handbag addition. The Lumix FH25 also boasts a Leica lens and high-quality Panasonic additions, including Intelligent Auto mode for smart shooting and Mega Optical Image Stabilisation for blur-free images. There are a few compromises you must make to use this budget camera, though. Its screen is tough to view from an angle, photo settings are limited and the camera can be a tad slow to record and play back images. Overall, though, the FH25 more than meets the requirements of a $300 camera.
