HAS The Good Wife been axed and nobody’s heard about it yet? I only ask because tonight’s season finale feels very final; yet also openended — the way they make them if they’re not sure whether they’re coming back.

So there’s an ending and you people who somehow like this show will feel a degree of satisfaction, or should do, but there’s also an opening for Alicia (Julianna Margulies) to become ‘‘ The Bad Wife’’.

I think she’s on the way there, isn’t she? There was never a whole lot of mileage in being the ‘‘ good’’ wife.

Or was it always meant to be an ironic title? Surely not.

They do, however, have an all-right wardrobe, or accessories, anyway.

Christine Baranski’s character, Diane always has a reason- able ring, which she tends to self-consciously present, like she’s just become engaged or something, and very often some beads, plus earrings.

She’s got big plans for the firm, she tells Alicia tonight, so maybe a large display of personality is required.

Is this a spoiler? Not sure . . . maybe just skim over this bit if you’re committed to the show: Eli Gold is probably going to set up his lobbying outfit in the

Star wife: Julianna Margulies firm’s offices. He’s obviously factoring in Alicia’s role as the ‘‘ good wife’’ in her oily husband’s political rise here, unaware that she may in fact soon be the ‘‘ good ex-wife’’.

I thought Eli’s relocating might be a bit borderline, ethically and everything, but Diane’s keen.

There’s also a dramatic trial on, naturally, and they’re all involved in that.

A judge has turned up dead, followed by the bloody glove that went missing early on from the crime scene, and the dude who’s been charged couldn’t be more innocent. It’s a terrible tragedy. This lawyerin’, it must pay all right, because the opportunity to fork over $7400 for one night in a hotel comes up after drinks and nobody blinks. The Good Wife Channel 10, 8.30pm
