IT’S an epidemic. Never before have television networks had to confront so many of their key stars quitting hit shows. The US version of The Office is set to lose Steve Carrell, House will be without Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy), Laurence Fishburne has just announced he will quit CSI and Marg Helgenberger has indicated she will leave before the next season ends.

In April, it was reported that Matthew Morrison wants to dump Glee to pursue his singing career.

Medical drama Grey’s Anatomy has already endured the departure of Katherine Heigl.

Now there are reports Patrick Dempsey is set to abandon the show. Dempsey has revealed he has been in robust discussions with Grey’s Anatomy executive producer Shonda Rhimes about his future on the show.

Going, gone: From bottom left clockwise — Steve Carell, Matthew Morrison, Marg Helgenberger, Laurence Fishburne, Lisa Edelstein and, (centre) Patrick Dempsey.
