SHOW GOES ON AS STARS DISAPPEAR

Herald Sun - Switched On - - On The Couch -

NEIGHBOURS would have to be Australian champion for surviving multiple cast exits. It has seen off key stars including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Delta Goodrem, Natalie Imbruglia, Alan Dale and Ian Smith over its 27 seasons. The latest to leave is Scott McGregor (pictured right). The model-turned-actor had won a wide following over the past year as Detective Mark Brennan.

Tonight’s 24-style episode is McGregor’s last. It sees Brennan facing the prospect of having to join a witness protection program.

‘‘ I’d seen four of five characters leave Neighbours in my time,’’ McGregor says.

Despite the changes, Neighbours is prospering. It is the No.1 show across the new free-to-air digital channels, averaging more than 400,000 viewers.
