SUCCESS WRITTEN IN THE STARS

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Cover Story -

WHO would have thought Dancing with the Stars would still be going strong after 11 seasons? Certainly not Channel 7 executives, who were less than enthusiastic about the dance show when it first aired in 2004 with Daryl Somers as host. Somers quit at the end of 2007 and was replaced by Daniel MacPherson. Somers later went to Channel 9 to resurrect Hey Hey It’s Saturday. Sonia Kruger admits she misses Somers. ‘‘I will forever be grateful that I got to work with Daryl,’’ Kruger says. ‘‘There was no autocue at all. He was generous with everybody. He’s an ensemble player. ‘‘I miss Daryl, I really do. He still texts me from time to time. He’s a real gentleman — absolute (TV) royalty.’’
