JOHN Wood believes that winning the Gold Logiemight have been a double-edged sword. Wood spent four years playing magistrate Michael Rafferty on Rafferty’s Rules, followed by 13 years as Sgt Tom Croydon on Blue Heelers. Wood was famously nominated nine times for Gold before finally snagging the prized trophy in 2006. It has been lean times on TV since then. Wood was in ABC drama The Cut, played Murray Farquhar on Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities and had a recurring role in Offspring. Wood fears that winning Gold has made TV producers shy away from offering him anything other than leading roles. ‘‘It is very nice to be working back on commercial TV again (on Neighbours) reminding people I exist,’’ Wood says. ‘‘It (winning Gold) must be a consideration (in TV producers’ minds) – ‘he’ll ask for too much money’ – but like most actors I just want to work.’’
