I’ve talked to two ac­tors in the last month who au­di­tioned for parts in The Slap and didn’t get them. Both dudes you would know. House­hold names. Plus great at their job.

The first guy, I hadn’t seen any of the show when he and I spoke and I thought, God, if this bloke didn’t make it, ei­ther The Slap is re­ally, re­ally bad or re­ally, re­ally good.

Un­til I watched Alex Dim­i­tri­ades in tonight’s episode, I had as­sumed ‘‘ my’’ two ac­tors had tried out for Hector. Now I’m not sure.

I’ve loved Dim­i­tri­ades since he played War­ren Lan­franchi in Blue Mur­der. Harry is a showy role, no ques­tion, but in the wrong hands this could’ve been ugly.

Where does this go now? Harry should prob­a­bly try to get one of the in­ner cir­cle on side.
