Samsung, $379 samsung.com.au
For what it offers – full highdefinition recording, 10x optical and 20X digital zoom, SD card memory, one-button operation and a 180g body – the HMX-Q10 is a mighty mini video camera. Samsung has designed this camera as a ambidextrous unit, making the HMX-Q10 easy to use for
southpaws, while ensuring the controls are just as intuitive for righthanders. While its spec isn’t up to the same level as the Canon or Sony, neither is the price. It outperforms both the more expensive brands on stills, delivering 4.9-megapixel shots. It has drag-and-scroll functions from
smartphones, optical image stabilisation and it can be recharged from any USB port. The audio isn’t a strength, but for family videos this
offers easy operation and good functionality for a reasonable price.
