MALCOLM is Dr Karl’s son. I find this hard to reconcile, until I see Dr Karl. He’s obviously been trying some acting since I last saw him. He’s stooped and addled and I really hope he’s not currently working as a general practitioner. Maybe now that he’s seen all the ladies of Erinsborough naked the at- traction’s worn off medicine anyway. Gary the real estate agent has found him what he describes as the ‘‘ perfect pad to suit his lifestyle’’ as a professional single man, but Karl isn’t behaving like any of those things. Susan seems oblivious to his over-acting, and carries on eating the enormous breakfast he’s made.
They don’t eat at all before leaving the house over at Paul Robinson’s, and they appear better for it. He made pancakes, because Sophie’s depressed about Noah and Kate and everything and Paul’s trying to be a regular guy.
Paul’s smarter than everyone else too, because he’s been across some dry gullies. So he tells Sophie to suck it up and go to school, where the mean girls are all standing around whispering about Kate and
