Eleven, Tuesday, 9.30pm ★★★★ It is season five and guess what, Dexter Morgan’s still mad as a meat axe. Daughter Astor (Christina Robinson), struggling to cope with the murder of her mother, Rita, makes an unexpected return and is suitably unimpressed when she discovers a new woman has moved in. Dexter, of course, is unsuccessful in his attempt to convince her that Lumen (Julia Stiles) is merely a renter and is not a ‘‘replacement’’ for Rita. Dexter’s father did tell him it was impossible to be a killer and a dad, so it will be interesting to see how Dexter negotiates this awkward domestic moment. Dexter, meanwhile, is having counselling sessions with Jordan Chase, who is using the teachings of Plato to help Dexter deal with grief. Chase would have as much success getting through to Dexter if he began quoting the philosophies of Pluto.
