‘‘ I think Channel 10 is keen for more and I think Shaun (Micallef) will make (the decision). But I’m the last guy they will call.’’

Please Like Me is a comedy/ drama that follows a fictional version of Josh as he’s forced to move back in with his manicdepressive mum.

‘‘ It’s like Outland meets Mother and Son,’’ he says boldly, before hurriedly adding: ‘‘ That’s a joke!.’’

The show has been in development for the past three years — so long that in the original storyline Thomas’s character was still ‘‘ pretending’’ to be a red-blooded heterosexual.

‘‘ In the original pitch I was making out with girls and then we changed it to boys,’’ he says. ‘‘ It would just seem too weird to see me touching boobs.

‘‘ I have a really good-looking boyfriend in this show.’’

Tomorrow, When The War Began star Caitlin Stasey plays his best friend. They met on the TBYG set.

‘‘ I was like, you’re a fun chick, why don’t you audition for this show?’’ he says. ‘‘ And she did and she was great.’’
