OFFSPRING

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Front Page -

Channel 10, tonight, 8.30pm ★★★★ The accolades for this loved Australian drama may be going straight to the pool room of Asher Keddie (as Nina Proudman), but the entire cast deserves praise for keeping this series real and interesting. As her co-star Eddie Perfect (gigging tradie Mick) points out, this show is not a ‘‘warm blanket’’ you can pull on for comfort. It surprises, it tests and in this episode it will shock. The fallout from Nina’s discovery she is not a Proudman continues, with Patrick left to pick up the pieces of his shattered girlfriend. Darcy is also reeling, but it’s Billie’s determination to find Mick’s brother a boyfriend that lightens the tone and takes this into new, hilarious territory. Those not familiarwith the social dating app Grindr are in for an education. Perfect and Kat Stewart (as Billie) are a sublime comedy duo, with Stewart as accomplished an actor as Keddie and just as luminous (that skin, those cheekbones) on screen. HB
