SONY XPERIA SOLA
Sony, $486 sony.com.au
At the top end of affordable sits this midrange Xperia smartphone, a wee handful of a phone. The Sola is the baby of the Xperia crew in many ways, most obviously in size. Its black plastic body barely
fills your palm and its 3.7-inch screen is smaller than it sounds and may prove a challenge for many to read. Sony packs a lot of technology into the Xperia S’s little brother, though, including a 5-megapixel camera with OLED flash,
Android Gingerbread software and an NFC chip that can change settings at
a touch with Sony’s SmartTags. Its touchscreen
features what Sony calls ‘‘floating touch’’ technology that lets you get away with almost touching its screen, though its usefulness is questionable. This tiny powerhouse is available at
Harvey Norman stores.
