THE FARMER WANTS A WIFE Channel 9, tonight, 8pm

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Front Page -

★★★★ Australia’s, and possibly the world’s, most successful dating show is back and it’s had a major overhaul. There are murmurs the restructure may not go down well with the show’s loyal followers and only time will tell if producers made the right decision to hit the refresh button. The new format promises more competition and more opportunity for love. The big change is that the show begins with more than 200 speed dates as farmers Matt, Tom, Paul, Nikko, Sam and Todd date not just their favourites, but every girl who has come searching for love. A post-speed dating party follows, where the girls work feverishly to make an impression. One, Jodi, chooses the occasion to showcase her pole-dancing skills. By the end of the season opener, the farmers choose three girls each to take back to their farm. Interestingly, if more than one farmer chooses the same girl, the power shifts and the decision is left in the girl’s hands. This doesn’t sit particularly well with farmer Sam, who wonders whether a battle over a particular girl will be settled the oldfashioned way. Here’s hoping. DD
