Zwar plays en­ter­tain­ment re­porter Alex Burchill, who is in an on-again off-again re­la­tion­ship with artist girl­friend Rita (Beth Buchanan).

The show is nar­rated by Geoffrey Rush and fea­tures Paul Denny as Burchill’s friend Bob Ger­aghty and Kym Gyn­gell as news­pa­per ed­i­tor Howard Evans.

The sec­ond se­ries of Low­down fea­tures a raft of guest stars in­clud­ing MasterChef judge Matt Pre­ston, Matt Day, Colin Lane and Kim­ber­ley Davies.

Low­down has been com­pared with Front­line, but Zwar says his show is dif­fer­ent.

‘‘Low­down is es­sen­tially a com­edy about re­la­tion­ships with a jour­nal­ism back­drop.

‘‘ We are very af­fec­tion­ate to­wards the jour­nal­ists.
