More than a bling fling for Brynne

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Cover Story -

She’s happy for people to form opinions about her, based on the show.

‘‘ Obviously, I’m not silly enough not to realise there were a lot of people when I married Geoff — of course he was 40 years older — they thought I was a gold digger,’’ Brynne says.

‘‘ But people just have no idea. I mean you can’t base your whole life on money. And that will come through; you’ll see how Geoff and I interact. We bicker like every other couple out there. We have amazing moments and we have hideous fights.’’

Contrary to what many people think, the socialite’s life isn’t 24/7 socialising. In fact, in the first years after her marriage, the days were often somewhat anti-social.

‘‘ I have this amazing life and I love living in Melbourne,’’ she says, ‘‘ But it’s sometimes hard not having a lot of friends and a lot of family here.

‘‘ And Geoff’s older so it’s not like I can meet people my age from going out with him, but luckily one of his friends had a younger wife at the time, so I met people through her.’’

Brynne’s ease at sharing her private life and feelings is fairly newfound. She credits her appearance on Dancing With The Stars last year as a turning point.

While the dance contest taught her she unfortunately has ‘‘ two left legs and one of them’s wooden’’, it also bolstered her self-esteem.

‘‘ It brought out insecurities but it brought out confidence too, because it helped me to feel stronger about myself, you know, when people were talking me down,’’ she says.

‘‘ It was an amazing experience and something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.’’ Brynne: My Bedazzled Life, Channel 7, Thursday, 7.30pm
