DIANNE BUTLER OUT OF THE BOX
THIS couldn’t be more strange. A pompous public servant — they call them civil servants — named Stephen Fisher blackmails the old men and forces Sandra (Amanda Redman, pictured) to work on a case from 1851. Is this influenced by the success of Sherlock Holmes? Probably. The victim was Abigail Padua, a financial whiz. What’s the connection to the here and now? Fisher cites the Official Secrets Act. Silly, really, but since Fisher’s being played, to the hilt, by Tim McInnerny, it’s OK. Especially since his flourishes are being diluted by the depressing news about Jack.
