DIANNE BUTLER OUT OF THE BOX
IT’S kind of crazy that a Ken Burns (pictured) documentary is on tonight, but on the other hand what a great lead-in to Boardwalk Empire. I take it you’re watching both? So you’ve seen the money that was being made. But one thing Boardwalk Empire doesn’t show are the innocent drinkers who died from poisoned, rubbish alcohol. Decent Canadian whisky was flowing in the cities — this is what Nucky was trading in, and the star of the era, Al Capone — but out in the country things were much drier. This is a fantastic series, told in the signature Ken Burns style, with all that great archive material.
