MASTERCHEF: THE PROFESSIONALS
Channel 10, Sunday, 7.45pm ★★★★ My Kitchen Rules is on the boil in ratings terms, but true foodies are having none of it. Instead, their imagination has been captured by Marco Pierre White and the cravat king, Matt Preston, who it must be said are both looking very well fed by this, the season finale. This series has come off the highs of the regular Masterchef format, but what it lacks in ratings it has made up for with the heady mix of aspirational food (funny that, a cooking show about the food) and the intoxicating charm of White. It’s interesting to note that, in the lead-up to the show’s premiere, White was being promoted as some kind of villain. Sure, he may have been a tyrant in the kitchen in the past, but that is not the White who turned up for Masterchef: The Professionals. Just who wins the title has been under wraps for months, but as they were promised from the beginning, every professional chef has left the competition better for the experience, as has the audience which stuck by the show. It’s just a pity a bigger audience hasn’t supported it.
