SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, Showcase, 8.30pm

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Saturday -

SINCE the release of the Oscar-winning Argo, the premise of western governments doing wacky things for positive PR outcomes has gone up a notch. Which on revision makes Salmon Fishing in The Yemen seem more silly rom- com than ever. But that’s not a bad thing, just a cosy cardigan of a film perfect for a Saturday night in. Ewan McGregor plays Britain’s leading fisheries expert tapped by a consultant (Emily Blunt) to help realise the dream of a sheikh (Amr Waked) to bring the sport of fly-fishing to the Middle East. Lofty idea, just a nice watch, really.
