While Cole­man can’t say too much about what’s in store for Clara and the Doc­tor, she says the first show of the sea­son features a new bad­die who she thinks will pro­vide kids with some brand new hide­be­hind-the-sofa mo­ments.

‘‘ It’s a vil­lain with style, who is kind of ter­ri­fy­ing to me,’’ she says.

Film­ing the new se­ries hap­pened at break­neck speed, but Cole­man says there’s no doubt you have a great job ‘‘ when I’m walking on a cloud or when I’m on a mo­tor­bike with Dr Who and I’m jet­ting around Lon­don past the Houses of Par­lia­ment’’.

There is a Clara doll in the works but Cole­man hasn’t seen it, though she says her house­mates will prob­a­bly en­joy hav­ing one around.

‘‘ I couldn’t have it in my bed­room, could I?’’ she asks, laugh­ing.
