THE STORY OF FILM Studio, 7.30pm

Herald Sun - Switched On - - Sundaymarch -

IRISH film critic Mark Cousins’ documentary on the history of film is a monumental achievement — even if his narration has divided critics. Tonight concentrates on the rise of Hollywood from the 1920s. It covers silent comedy stars Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, and Douglas Fairbanks’ The Thief of Baghdad. The transition to talking pictures led to blockbuster Gone with the Wind and Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane.
