Nokia, $329 ★★★ The baby brother of the Lu­mia se­ries, the 620 is a bright and colour­ful 3G smart­phone aimed at peo­ple who fo­cus on bud­get over features. The Win­dows 8 phone with 3.8-inch screen has a coloured back with a high­light colour around the edge of the screen. In Nokia tra­di­tion, you can re­place this with one of seven coloured cov­ers. The 620 has a 5-megapixel cam­era, which is a long way be­hind the new smart­phone stan­dard of 13 megapix­els, but will take de­cent pho­tos in good light. You can ac­cess Nokia’s mu­sic-stream­ing ser­vice and the Nokia Drive nav­i­ga­tion app. The 620 has a 1.5GHz dual-core pro­ces­sor, 512MB RAM, NFC and is smaller than many smart­phones at 11cm tall and weigh­ing 127g.
