Canon, $555, canon.com.au ★★★ Canon’s PowerShot G range is pitched at DSLR users who want a pocket-sized camera with some manual controls. The G15 is a 12.1-megapixel shooter with a top ISO of 12,800 and a f1.8 zoom lens that can reach from 28 to 140mm. It feels solid, has a sharp three-inch screen and sits in your hands nicely. It has an unusual, but functional design of overlap dials across the top, with the upper dial controlling shooting mode and the lower for exposure compensation. You can choose to save your images in RAW and there is a tiny optical viewfinder. It lacks the articulated screen or wi-fi connectivity that you find in similarly priced cameras, but it will appeal to those who want bright lenses and simple designs.
