Herald Sun - Switched On - - GADGETS -

There are few things better than a simple idea well executed.

The Bluelounge Sanctuary4 fits this bill perfectly — a desktop charging station for up to four gadgets.

In the wrong hands, it could have been a frustrating creation, covered in cords and providing a trickle of electricity. Bluelounge’s attention to detail ensures a smoother experience.

The Sanctuary 4 arrives in two pieces — a 22cm square base that plugs into a power point and offers four USB ports, and a lid that covers these and provides space for phones, battery packs, and even a tablet computer.

The USB hub in the base delivers four amps of power, including two high-voltage ports capable of charging tablet computers, and two more offering typical USB power.

One short, braided Micro USB cable is included with the station, but any cord can be connected inside this hub and guided to stick out of its base or out of the hole beneath its tablet stand.

That stand can be angled to your favourite position, and the lid features a rubberised finish to ensure gadgets don’t slip.

The Sanctuary4 doesn’t offer wireless charging, but it is a truly handy device and an excellent way to avoid a tangle of cords on your desk or bedside table. / JENNIFER DUDLEY-NICHOLSON
