NO NEED TO PLAY DUMB Watch­ing a BBC doc­u­men­tary shows how dumbed down most Aus­tralian pro­grams have be­come. We find it nec­es­sary to have some jokey/quirky host spout­ing use­less in­for­ma­tion. Aus­tralian pro­duc­ers are afraid to tele­vise any­thing that might re­quire ac­tual thought on the part of the view­ers. The BBC treat their au­di­ence with re­spect, while we just cater to the thick. Damien, via email
