FANS WILL PINE FOR AN ANSWER

Herald Sun - Switched On - - ON THE COUCH -

With The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shymalan in the executive producer’s seat and adapted from the best selling novels by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines has been eagerly awaited.

And Melissa Leo, who plays Nurse Pam, promises they won’t be disappointed.

“I hope this is something you have never actually seen before,” she says. “The show is full of twists. As soon as you think you have figured it out, you will actually learn something different that blows your theory all to hell.”

Based in a creepy small town in Idaho, secret service agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) arrives in Wayward Pines to find two missing colleagues. Once there, however, he finds he is unable to leave.

With Twin Peaks comparisons flying about, Leo says the show is “nothing like” its mystery-genre predecessor.

“I don’t like to copy things that have come out before,” she says, adding that it also differs from the books it is based upon.

“The premise holds true. (But) it’s not too much like the book at this point.

“Things are not always what they seem and the show is definitely that.”

Let the guessing begin!
