This time a decade ago, Natalie Bassingthwaighte was juggling acting with a booming music career. Could she be about to repeat history?

It’s been years since she appeared on TV in character, and she put singing on hold a while ago, too. Reality shows and motherhood took priority.

In 2016, viewers will see her as Julie Bamford — girlfriend of the late Peter Brock — in Network Ten’s telemovie about the racing legend.

“It’s been a long time but acting is where my heart is and I’m so excited,” she says.

Bassingthwaighte and Matthew Le Nevez, who stars as Brock, had a short time to get to know each other.

“We had a read-through and one day of rehearsal … and suddenly we had to play being in love. It wasn’t easy but at the end of it I felt like I’d known (Matt) for years.”

A few months ago, Bassingthwaighte reunited with Rogue Traders for a corporate gig, and on New Year’s Eve they’ll perform their first public concert in years. Is it a one-off? “We got in a rehearsal room (recently) — the same one we rehearsed in for the very first time. It felt very familiar and really comfortable. It was awesome.” BROCK COMES TO CHANNEL 10 IN 2016
