NEW WIVES HAVE OZ RELATION

Herald Sun - Switched On - - ON THE COUCH -

The latest instalment of The Real Housewives franchise may be set in the US, but it has a uniquely Aussie connection.

Ashley Boalch Darby (above), at 27 the youngest of the six women featured in The Real Housewives of Potomac, is married to 56-year-old Australian real-estate mogul Michael Darby.

Not only that, but the couple recently opened Oz Restaurant and Bar, the first Australian restaurant in Washington, DC, (home to Potomac, one of the US’s wealthiest communities).

“The show will document the beginning of the restaurant and all of the hiccups we had along the way, and really where we are now,” Boalch Darby recently told American breakfast show Good Day DC.

Having been crowned Miss DC at 21, Darby says that while she’s used to the public spotlight, being on the show is a novelty — and brought the usual Housewives drama.

“When you have six women in one room together — who have huge personalities, who are very independent people — you are bound to have some good stuff happen,” she says.

Executive producer Andy Cohen says the series harks back to the early days of the hit franchise in New York and Orange County.
