Peter Scanavino

Herald Sun - Switched On - - ON THE COUCH - BY COLIN VICKERY NATIONAL TV WRITER

one of the things Carisi is really good at — relating to people. He has a deep empathy now for the victims.

Do you find the SVU subject matter confronting? I’ve never been one of those actors who take work home with me but dealing with this subject matter every day and especially having a wife who I love dearly and two children, it is very easy for me to imagine ‘what if it were my own kids, what if it were my wife?’ That instantly puts you in a frame of mind of how this stuff really does affect people.

Mariska Hargitay is the soul of the show as Olivia Benson. What is it like working with her? Mariska is extremely funny and relaxed and loose on set. She treats every person with respect. I have been on other shows where people have had some pretty bad behaviour. You never get that from Mariska.

LAW & ORDER: SVU, CHANNEL 10, THURSDAY, 9PM

Peter Scanavino found it a bit daunting when he first joined the show.
