Herald Sun - Switched On - - ON THE COUCH -

After 13 years and countless wisecracks, it’s time this week for Tony DiNozzo to leave the NCIS building.

Michael Weatherly’s DiNozzo was a firm fan favourite since the show’s inception and when the actor announced he’d be departing the US drama, the reaction was swift and predictably saddened.

But Weatherly promises fans will be happy with the way his departure is handled on screen in the episode airing on Tuesday.

“It was very, very beautiful,” he told US entertainment magazine EW.

“The Tony and Gibbs (Mark Harmon) stuff in the episode is also very satisfying. All of it.”

Also satisfying will be the return of Anthony DiNozzo Sr. Robert Wagner is back for his onscreen son’s last episode.

While Weatherly said part of the reason for his NCIS exit was in order to spend more time with his family, luckily for us he’ll be back on screens soon.

He is the headline star on upcoming drama Bull, which is based on talk show host Dr Phil McGraw’s early days of running one of the most prolific trial consulting services of all time.

The pilot was recently picked up for a full-series which is set to debut in the US in September. No word on an Australian air date for now, but watch this space.
