But away from the show, Gold Coast entertainer Apollo Jackson, real name Jake Spence, has quite a story to tell. Just two and a half years ago Spence suffered a heart attack — aged 22 — and was in critical care for two weeks. “I was super lucky. I was sitting at a friend’s place having dinner, and I had really bad anxiety at the time,” he says. “I remember sitting there, shaking, because there was a lot of things going on. “Then my ears started ringing, my vision went, and both my arms went numb. And I just dropped.” Spence’s friend quickly drove him to hospital, where he was diagnosed as having a heart attack. At the time Spencep ( (pictured) pictured) was working in security and had serio serious financial troubles. He was also overweight. That health scare forced him to re-evalu re-evaluate his life, and focus onwon what he really wanted to do. So Spence de decided to go into s show business. He si signed on for TheT BacheloretteBachelo as he fi finds it difficu difficult to meet g girls while travelli travelling. “I’m lookin looking for someone who who’s fun, down to earth earth, has a great persona personality — someone you can have a laughwlaugh with,” he says./says.
