SPREAD DEAL, MORE APPEAL

Herald Sun - - NEWS -

NEW Vegemite owner Bega Cheese will ramp up efforts to introduce foreign tastebuds to its salty pleasures.

Vegemite was set to return to Australian ownership last night when Bega was due to finalise its $460 million deal to buy the spread from US food giant Mondelez.

The Vegemite deal also hands Bega other brands, including ZoOsh and Bonox, and a manufacturing plant in Port Melbourne.

Chairman Barry Irvin said Bega was keen to broaden the spread’s appeal overseas.
