GREENS Sen­a­tor Janet Rice has sought as­sur­ances a re­view into Vic­to­ria’s en­dan­gered fauna em­blem won’t de­lay a strat­egy to help en­sure its sur­vival.

Sen­a­tor Rice wrote to En­vi­ron­ment Min­is­ter Josh Fry­den­berg to en­sure a fed­eral strat­egy to help the Lead­beater’s possum’s re­cov­ery won’t be shelved.

The Her­ald Sun re­vealed last week the fed­eral gov­ern­ment has di­rected the Threat­ened Species Sci­en­tific Com­mit­tee to fast-track a re­view of the list­ing.

Up to 3000 Lead­beater’s pos­sums re­main in the wild.
