NO PLAYING POSSUM
GREENS Senator Janet Rice has sought assurances a review into Victoria’s endangered fauna emblem won’t delay a strategy to help ensure its survival.
Senator Rice wrote to Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg to ensure a federal strategy to help the Leadbeater’s possum’s recovery won’t be shelved.
The Herald Sun revealed last week the federal government has directed the Threatened Species Scientific Committee to fast-track a review of the listing.
Up to 3000 Leadbeater’s possums remain in the wild.
