FOUR masked men tried to force their way into homes in Ellen and Gove streets, Spring­vale, about 2am on Oc­to­ber 31, but were thwarted by the oc­cu­pants. Of the four, who were seen driv­ing a dark four-door Holden Crew­man Cross 8 util­ity with a dis­tinc­tive rear canopy, one was obese and wore black pants with white stripes, a dark grey jumper and red sneak­ers; an­other had slicked-back black hair and wore run­ners, a dark puffer jacket and blue or grey track­suit pants; and a third, of medium build, wore black pants with white stripes, black gloves with yel­low writ­ing on them and a dark puffer jacket. All three of those men were be­lieved to be cau­casian.


A MAN, 52, of no fixed ad­dress, has been charged with two counts of di­rect­ing a sex­ual act to­wards an­other per­son over in­ci­dents on the fore­shore at Men­tone and Brighton at the week­end. He was bailed to face Moorab­bin Mag­is­trates’ Court on November 17.


A SUS­PI­CIOUS fire tore through an empty unit in Mont­gomery St, Maid­stone, about 10.15pm on Mon­day. In­quiries were con­tin­u­ing.


A BUR­GLAR, be­lieved to be aged in his late 20s or early 30s, stole soft drinks from a shed at the rear of a restau­rant in Clay­ton Rd, Clay­ton, about 1.55am on Oc­to­ber 29.


SHOTS were fired in Clare­mont St, South Yarra, about 4am yes­ter­day, wound­ing at least one man. Bul­lets hit the first-floor win­dow of an apart­ment. It is be­lieved at least two men were in a dis­pute near a red hatch­back. Foren­sics of­fi­cers were ex­am­in­ing blood­stains.


THE Special Oper­a­tions Group ar­rested a man, 30, in Rowville yes­ter­day morn­ing over an armed rob­bery at a gam­ing venue in Stud Rd just af­ter 8.45am on Mon­day. He has been charged with armed rob­bery and firearms of­fences.
