Planting the seed on road names
AFTER establishing Y Rd in Ashburton is named after its forked shape, now we know how K Rd in Werribee South got its name.
As Steve Gibson, of Bundoora, and Werribee riverkeeper John Forrester were first to tell us, all the roads in the area were labelled alphabetically up to K in the era of market gardening.
“They finally caught on with the name thing, but K Rd survived,” Steve says.
So now who can tell us the longest named roads in Melbourne and Victoria?
