Lib vet­eran to re­sign from group

A LONG-time Lib­eral party fig­ure has sig­nalled his in­ten­tions to re­sign from the state’s prop­erty de­vel­op­ment group.

The likely de­par­ture of De­vel­op­ment Vic­to­ria deputy chair­man Tony De Domenico fol­lows al­le­ga­tions he pro­moted the al­leged head of the Cal­abrian mafia to a prom­i­nent cham­ber group.

The Her­ald Sun un­der­stands Mr De Domenico has in­formed De­vel­op­ment Vic­to­ria of his in­ten­tions to step down.

The state gov­ern­ment was last night yet to con­firm whether it had re­ceived for­mal no­tice of his res­ig­na­tion.

Fair­fax re­ported Mr De Domenico had used his po­si­tion as pres­i­dent of the Ital­ian Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try to make al­leged mob­ster Tony Madaf­feri a cham­ber mem­ber last year.
