DRINK-DRIVE ANT FINED $158K

POP­U­LAR Bri­tish TV host Ant McPartlin has been fined $158,000 for drink driv­ing, in con­nec­tion with a three-car crash in Lon­don last month that in­jured sev­eral peo­ple.

The pre­sen­ter was also banned from driv­ing for 20 months af­ter be­ing caught at dou­ble the le­gal limit.

“I am truly sorry for what hap­pened,” McPartlin, 41, said on the steps of Wim­ble­don Mag­is­trates’ Court in south­west Lon­don.

“I let my­self down; I let a lot of peo­ple down. I’d like to apol­o­gise to ev­ery­body in­volved in the crash, and I’m just thank­ful no­body was se­ri­ously hurt.”

McPartlin and his mate De­clan Don­nelly, also from New­cas­tle in north­east Eng­land, have as Ant and Dec hosted many prime-time shows over the past 20 years.

McPartlin re­cently at­tended a re­hab clinic for an ad­dic­tion to painkillers.
