A roar to the fore

Herald Sun - - IN BLACK & WHITE -

GIVE a mighty tiger roar to the kind-hearted spectators who came to the aid of elderly Richmond fan Frank Carr after he collapsed at the footy.

Frank, who turns 84 today, was severely dehydrated and collapsed from heatstroke at the match against Hawthorn the Sunday before last.

Luckily, a doctor from the Epworth was nearby and stepped in to help the Caulfield man until paramedics arrived. But it’s the actions of ordinary footy fans that most impressed Frank’s daughter, Sharon Carr.

“Richmond supporters nearby lent a hand in holding up jackets to block the sun, passing water and a cushion for his head,” she says.

The family extends their thanks to everyone who helped, including the paramedics and hospital staff.

“It is heartening to know there are good people who will support you in a time of need,” Sharon says.

As for Frank, he’s well on the road to recovery.

“His main disappointment was actually not seeing the Tigers beat the Hawks!” Sharon says.
