SOVIET PLOT UP FOR SALE

Herald Sun - - NEWS -

AN original typescript of the novel, Doctor Zhivago, which was smuggled out of the Soviet Union, is expected to fetch $260,000 at auction in London.

Boris Pasternak’s classic tale was banned for being “anti-Soviet”, so the author risked his life to arrange for six typescripts to be sneaked out of the country.

The annotated manuscript of more than 200 pages, which was completed in 1955, will be sold by Forum Auctions on May 31.
