When everyone is working full-time and children are in school, it can be hard to spend quality time together — life can get busy and, to be honest, exhausting.

Nevertheless, it is important to spend time together, and it doesn’t always have to cost a lot of money.

Here are some fun ideas:

■ Picnic in the park: pack up your favourite snacks and head to beautiful Peacehaven Park for a play and bite to eat.

■ Movie night in: Organise a day where homework is done early and work is put away for the day and put on a movie for the afternoon, but still early enough for the kids to be in bed at a reasonable time.

■ Craft: Have a look online and get some ideas to make groovy arts and crafts with your children.

■ Sport: Kick a ball around the backyard or go for a swim in the pool if you have one.

■ Gardening: Pot some plants or plant some seeds.
