Brighten a cold house with warm colours

Highfields' Own - - INTERIOR -

As the weather steadily becomes colder, the fresh colours of summer decor can seem to drain all the warmth out of your home. Bring some heat in by revamping the decor. If you’ve got the desire to go all-out makeover, this could mean fresh paint on the walls and some new furniture.

If your budget is tighter, home decor can be simply warmed up using cushions, throws, picture frames and maybe a new lamp, vase or objet d'art.

While warm shades popular last year like copper are out of trend this year, deep coloured wood, cork and terracotta are in — all of which add a cosy feel to a room.

This year jewel tones are in trend as well, so step away from the traditional oranges, reds and neutral tones for autumn and add a splash of colour.

Rich purples, vibrant teal, lively deep green and bright yellow shades are all colours to consider for this season.

Not only do they add warmth, these shades also add cheer to your home in an often dreary season as we head into winter.
