Kind­est cut from bar­ber

FORMER High Wycombe res­i­dent and World War II vet­eran Leonard Ken­wyn Bow­ley (92) had a visit from bar­ber Tracy Lynn on Mon­day to pre­pare for An­zac Day.

Mr Bow­ley’s fam­ily have com­mended Ms Lynn, of High Wycombe, who at­tended to their grand­fa­ther be­fore last year’s ser­vice while he was in hospi­tal, and again this year in his nurs­ing home, Dono­van House For­rest­field.

Mr Bow­ley’s spir­its were lifted last year when he was al­lowed to leave hospi­tal and at­tend the An­zac march and Ms Lynn was called in to help.

She was there to help again this year to en­sure he looked his best on the day.

In 1941-42, Mr Bow­ley, a pri­vate in the army, was a spe­cial­ist ma­chine gun­ner in the 2/11 Bat­tal­ion in the Mid­dle East, Pales­tine, Syria and Le­banon.

He was an able sea­man on HMAS Stu­art (De­stroyer) and HMAS Wol­lon­gong for the Royal Aus­tralian Navy from 1942-45.
