ROHAN’S TOP TIPS
Low prune existing vegetation to separate ground fuels from canopy fuels and try to create minimum 2m gaps.
Replace fine-leaved native shrubs near home with plants that have thick branches and fleshy leaves i.e. succulents.
Compost fine fuels like twigs and grass to reduce bushfire fuel into soil and increase soil moisture for plants.
Seal gaps and vents in external cladding and evaporative coolers with steel flywire or mineral wool to stop embers entering property.
Identify a self-evacuation trigger to leave before a bushfire threatens and do not wait for official warnings.
