Investing in area
SWAN HILLS MLA Jessica Shaw said the Labor Government’s first State Budget delivered strong investment in the area, with a focus on job creation, Metronet and investment in health and education.
The Budget locked in election commitments to finish the Forrestfield-Airport Link with new stations at Belmont, Airport Central and Forrestfield, and a $28.2 million plan to relocate Midland Station and extend the line to Bellevue.
Another $1.4 million was on the table for a Swan Valley Development Package to boost tourism and jobs in the area.
Ms Shaw said Local Projects, Local Jobs was delivering funding to grassroots initiatives to communities including:
$167,000 for upgrades to Chidlow Recreation Ground’s lighting
$20,000 individual grants for schools across Swan Hills
$73,500 for gym equipment, lighting and refurbishment of Gidgegannup Recreation Grounds
$100,000 for upgrades to the skate park at Mt Helena’s Elsie Austin Oval
$138,000 for bus shelters throughout the Swan Hills electorate
$63,000 for Equestrian WA’s new broadcasting caravan facility
$20,000 to complete the Chidlow RSL memorial and improve the Community Hall $80,000 in funding for new equipment for local volunteer bushfire brigades $30,000 for a new food van for Mundaring Rotary $3000 for new canoes for the Eastern Hills Scout Group.
