Community rallies for injured rider

Hills Gazette (Kalamunda) - - FRONT PAGE - Lisa Thomas

THE horse riding community is rallying behind a Bullsbrook nurse with “a heart of gold” after a serious horse riding accident last month left her in an induced coma.

Kirrily Beer was riding with a friend on a bridle trail in Bullsbrook when her horse spooked, causing her to fall and sustain serious head injuries.

Now the community is rallying behind Mrs Beer and her family, attempting to fundraise more than $10,000 through a GoFundMe page.

Friend Samantha Unstead said she wanted to ensure that when she woke up, Mrs Beer and her husband Ron would not have to worry about how they would pay their bills.

“Her husband has been by her side and unable to work, so we wanted to make sure that this was one less thing they would have to worry about,” she said.

“Everyone has been so kind and has been asking how they can help during this tough time.”

Mrs Beer is in a critical but stable condition and her longterm prognosis is not known.

Ms Unstead said Mrs Beer was the kind of person who would do anything she could for other people.

“There has been so much support for her from the horse community and the people she works with. She’s been a nurse for 20 years and she has helped so many people,” she said.

“She’s got a huge heart and she’s one of the most generous people I’ve ever known and does anything she can to help other people.”
