Hills Gazette (Kalamunda) - - OPINION - -Julie Phelps Desmond -Mesha

Very disappointing to see these activities dropped by the State. It should be classified as a sport for this purpose. Kidsport was supposed to help encourage kids to be active and encourage parents too, but not every kid likes sports (and not every parent either). Scouts is a great way for these kids to get involved in something active and scouts also gives them similar social, discipline and team skills, as well as other awesome life skills. Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. When was the last time you had your skin checked? SCOUT groups are upset their members will no longer be eligible for State Government Kidsport funding as their activities are not classified as sport.
