Bush­fire charges laid

A 27-year-old man charged with two counts of wil­fully light­ing a bush­fire, in­clud­ing one in Dar­ling­ton, will ap­pear in court again on April 13.

Stephen Ken­neth Sher­wood, of Narem­been, al­legedly lit a small scrub fire near the en­try to the Gra­ham Farmer Free­way be­tween 6.30pm and 7pm on Thurs­day, March 8.

Depart­ment of Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices of­fi­cers put the fire out and Mr Sher­wood was taken to hos­pi­tal for as­sess­ment.

He was charged with start­ing an­other fire about 10.35am the next day in bush­land on Great East­ern High­way in Dar­ling­ton.

DFES of­fi­cers ex­tin­guished the sec­ond fire and po­lice took Mr Sher­wood into cus­tody.

He first ap­peared in Perth Mag­is­trates Court on March 10.
